Houston Rodeo 2024 Ends With Rain and Thunderstorms
Weather Dampens Final Weekend of Rodeo Festivities
Roaring Thunder and Downpours Force Evacuations and Closures
The final weekend of the 2024 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was marked by severe weather, heavy rain, and thunderstorms. As strong storms moved into Houston on Friday evening, Rodeo Houston fans and families were forced to seek shelter and evacuate the park.
The National Weather Service issued a severe weather warning for the Houston area, prompting the closure of the carnival and evacuation of the rodeo stadium. Stadium gates were temporarily closed, but the rodeo resumed once the weather cleared.
Despite the inclement weather, the carnival reopened once the storm passed, and fans were encouraged to bring rain gear with them for the final weekend of the event. The storms are expected to linger through Sunday, so attendees are advised to check the weather forecast before heading to NRG Park.
The severe weather has put a damper on the festivities, but the rodeo spirit remains strong. Rodeo Houston fans are encouraged to make the most of the remaining weekend by enjoying the live music, livestock competitions, and carnival rides.
